He has played a key role in developing the “new mobilities paradigm” and the emergence of the interdisciplinary fields of geohumanities and geopoetics. Through his widely cited books and numerous academic publications, Professor Cresswell has made a lasting impact on how we understand movement, meaning, and place in the modern world. On receiving the election as a Fellow of The British Academy, Professor Cresswell shared: I am honoured to be associated with an organisation that represents the best that the humanities and social sciences have to offer at a time when they are most urgently needed. The list of fellows of the British Academy, both past and present, includes many of my intellectual heroes and I am humbled to find myself among them.
