Our dedicated School Student Experience Team act as the first point of contact for all elements of student support, including pastoral care. Student support As a student, you will be assigned a Student Adviser as your first point of contact. They will guide and support you through any academic, wellbeing and practical issues you may face during your time at University. They will also advise you on a variety of different topics related to your studies as well as provide guidance on University policies and regulations. If you are encountering challenging circumstances throughout your studies your Student Adviser can help.There are also other members of staff who will support you throughout your studies, such as:Cohort Leads: your main academic contact works with groups of students to build a sense of community and acts as a link between you and your programme. They organise group events and activities, and can also provide advice on academic matters, including course selection and content.Academic Staff and Teaching Teams: they will actively participate in your induction, studies, and academic progress. You will also have access to additional academic support through enhanced student support teams within your SchoolWellbeing Advisers: working alongside Student Advisers, they offer enhanced wellbeing support - including working with other central services, such as Student Counselling and the Student Disability Service Community Champions and Peer Support Within our Student Experience Team, we have three Community Champions: one undergraduate student in Geography, one at King’s Buildings and one postgraduate. The Community Champions work with students and staff on specific activities/projects to promote a sense of community among students in the School to enhance students' experiences and foster a sense of belonging to the University. Geographical Society One of the university’s oldest and largest societies – from academic talk and careers events to socials and charity nights, there’s something for everyone! Palaeontology Society PalaeoSoc is a society for those with a love of natural history and the prehistoric world. They host events including movie nights, news nights, and more.
