Win Sim shares his experience of studying the MSc Environmental Protection and Management. Name Win Sim Tan Degree MSc Environmental Protection and Management Year of graduation 2020 Image My time at University I have a background in wildlife research and conservation, familiar with wildlife data analysis and remote sensing. Given how specialized my fields of interest were, I was keen to expand my knowledge, particularly environmental science and climate change. This led me to study the MSc in Environmental Protection & Management at the University of Edinburgh. The first field trip to the Scottish highlands was one of the major highlights during my one-year academic study. Walking on the soft peat soil and enjoying the seemingly timeless highland scenery while learning about the history of the lands? Ineffable. And of course, I had a first-hand experience about how unpredictable the weather in Scotland could be! My experiences since leaving University The job market was challenging upon graduation due to Covid-19, and finding a job that corresponds to my field of expertise and interest was particularly challenging. I applied for a role at the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Center; I received a job offer after an interview. I am excited to start my new job after two months of restlessness! My Covid-19 experience While I have always been a nature lover, preferring the outdoors as my office, the pandemic forced me to reevaluate and alter my career goals.
