It is mandatory that all staff have an Annual Performance and Development Review, or ‘Annual Review’, once a year. Annual reviews ensure that outstanding achievement is recognised and problems anticipated. There are significant positive outcomes for staff in terms of encouragement and guidance, and progress reviews also provide a means of delivering feedback and encourage self-reflection and goal-setting. Annual reviews are organised and recorded centrally. The Head of School reviews members of SPARC. Heads of Research Institutes normally review all Professorial Staff, Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Readers, and Independent Fellows, but, due to the large numbers involved, may delegate some PDRs to other senior colleagues. Managers review professional services staff. Staff employed on contracts associated with projects are reviewed by the PI of that project. The process and forms differ depending on category of staff. You will find a process map for all reviews via the link below. You can also access College general guidance for both reviewer and reviewee here Academic Staff (including independent Fellows) The process is a little more complex and the time-scale longer as basic data (and feedback on performance) is sought from RTD and the TO. Links to the forms used are found below. Note that Academic staff will be sent these forms as and when their reviews are arranged.
