Overview of the benefits and responsibilities of a Tutor and Demonstrator (T&D). What do I get out of being a T&D? With such a diverse range of courses in multiple disciplines, the School of GeoSciences offers many opportunities for tutors and demonstrators. You will teach on both our undergraduate (UG) courses and postgraduate taught (PGT) courses. There are also opportunities to take part in field courses which generally run between April – September. If you are unsure of what to expect, it could be worth having a chat with your sponsor or someone with experience in tutoring and demonstrating. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we offered many interactive hybrid teaching methods, including: online programmes videos online discussion boards. Some of these may continue going forward, and Geosciences does run several completely online courses. We wholeheartedly encourage all our research students to get involved in teaching. Our current T&Ds have shared the benefits they have gained: Working in T&D helps me maintain and improve my discipline-specific fundamental skills. I've also gained new skills in teaching and helping others grow in their own understandings. You will either work as a tutor or a demonstrator - often both! hese roles are paid at different rates, and you would have employment contracts for both roles. There are a number of different duties according to which role you are fulfilling.
