What training and support is available?

There are a number of mandatory training and optional training courses available.

There are several mandatory training courses you must complete as a tutor and demonstrator. You will be paid for these sessions at a flat tutor rate.

T&D induction

If you are a newly appointed T&D, you will be invited to attend an introduction to tutoring and demonstrating in the School of GeoSciences which you must attend.

The date of this session will be on the T&D Timeline that will be published as we start the recruitment process, so you will have plenty of notice. It generally takes place on the Friday before the start of the semester.

Other essential training

Data Protection Training and Information Security Essentials training is required. All employees of Edinburgh University must complete this training.

You will also be required to complete Equality and Diversity Essentials and Challenging Unconscious Bias.  Training details can be found on the EDI Training web pages.

It is also preferable that field demonstrators complete the fieldwork first aid training held in the School.
