The Biosphere research group represents all life on Earth and the interface between the physical earth and the atmosphere. We push the frontiers of research on soils, freshwater, microbes and plants, their interactions and their role in the entire Earth system. We are diverse in our interests and approaches spanning from ecosystem function, community structure to socio-ecological systems and global change interactions to contribute to an improved relationship between human societies and the biological world. Our approaches range from laboratory and modelling analyses to fieldwork and earth observation. We utilise, analyse, and model using field-collected data to the regional and global level via remote sensing and modelling, generating vital basic science for understanding diverse ecosystems across the globe. Our people Our research is thanks to the hard work of the people in this group. These will be links to research case studies that are/will be in the "Featured Research" section. This could be research that members of your group are most proud of, feel like it reflects best on the range of research undertaken, or would be most attractive to prospective research students. ] This article was published on 2025-07-15
